Minutes of the Seventh Annual General Meeting held at Llantrisant Golf Club on Friday 5th November 2010
The Chairman Ray Morgan opened the meeting by welcoming all members to the Llantrisant club and holding a minutes silence in memory of those members who had passing away during the year.
1) The Secretary read the notice convening the Seventh Annual General Meeting.
2) Apologies for absence were read out.
3) Minutes of the 2009 A.G.M. were read.
4) Matters arising. Nil The minutes were approved unanimously by the members- Prop B Price…Sec C Bailey .
5) Treasurers report.
This was read in the absence of Gerald Griffiths with the following summary of Gerald’s account. “ Gentlemen, please accept my apology for my absence today, I am starting my 2nd dose of Chemo, so I have to avoid crowds in confined spaces in case of picking up any bugs (That’s why I am keeping away from Howel) Ha! Ha! I would like to point out the increase in our income from Raffles. 2009 raised £939.00….2010 raised £1,414.50 an increase of £475.00, I thank you gentlemen for your generosity and please keep up the good work, my thanks to our sponsors and fellow committee men. A special thanks to Ron Holloway a Gower G.C. member our auditor, I ask that you accept the accounts as a true record. The accounts were approved unanimously by the members Prop J Nancarrow…Sec Mountain Ash. Sorry no name.
6) The Chairman’s report. Ray stated that the year had once again been a great success with everyone enjoying the experience of playing in the Classic, he would like to see in 2011 the total amount of teams being 64 so that there would be no reason for any bye’s. Very many thanks to Woodlake Park, The Grove, Morriston, Haverford west, Glynneath and Llantrisant Golf Clubs for the use of their courses for the Claret jug and Cup / Bowl. Thanks to Tony, Peter & Gerald hoping for a good recovery and send welsh cakes next time, to Howel and to everyone that helped during the regional rounds of the Claret Jug. Thanks to all the Captains of the teams during the season, he hoped that in 2011 there would be a great step forward in the use of the web and e mailing results etc, he thanked the members that had taken time to send in proposals / suggestions for consideration that would be discussed later under the appropriate heading.
7) Secretaries report. Howel opened by sending the Classic’s condolences to the family of Graham Harris of the Cradoc finals team who died suddenly within a few weeks of playing at Clyne, he had been playing squash at Brecon when he died following a game. Thanks to all the people that had helped at all the venues during the season, congratulations to all the winners in the competitions with details in the news letter of the Finals. The venues for all neutral courses had been confirmed for 2011… A big thank you to the Staff and caterers at Clyne for their help during the Finals Day.
