Minutes of the Annual General Meeting 2011

@ The Grove Golf Club, Porthcawl - 4th November 2011

In the absence of Ray Morgan  Peter Watkins acted as chairman.

The secretary opened the meeting by asking the members to stand and observe a minutes silence for those friends who had passed away during the last year - Gerald Davies (Treasurer), Billy Lewis Glynhir, Dave Thomas Clyne.  Apologies were received from GlynHir, Cradoc,GlynNeath & GlynAbbey

The secretary read the minutes of the 7th meeting held @ Llantrisant

There were no matters arising

The secretary read the Treasurers report stating that following the death of Gerald Davies he  had finished off the seasons accounts. He thanked Ann, Geralds widow for her help with the  banking and Ron Holloway for auditing the accounts.  He concluded by indicating that there was a positive balance in the accounts which would be carried forward to next year. The accounts were duly accepted - proposed by Eric Jones and seconded by Terry Diaper.

Secretary's report:

The secretary thanked everyone for once again making the competition a credit to the Seniors of South Wales and for the many favourable comments made to him and other members of the committee in relation to the hard work they had put in throughout the season.  The then thanked the captain and committee of llanishen GC for a successful claret jug final played there for the 1st time.  Thanks were also given to the members who had contributed so much in raising funds by contributing raffle prizes and then spent more money in trying to win them back.

A special thank you went to Mike Thomas and his staff of the Grove for hosting the final  and subsequent gala dinner. Some of our sponsors were present and able to present the trophies to the winning teams although there was disapointment that some of the winners were not represented on the night..  Our president Max Boyce delivered his usual (totaly unbiased Welsh) after dinner speach much to the delight of everyone there and then presented on our behalf a cheque to the representative of the Welsh Air Ambulance with a cheque for £6,500.

Election of officers:

Chris Bailey was proposed by the committee and seconded by Eric Jones for the vacent position of Treasurer.  There is still a vacency for a representative to serve on thecommitte from the West Wakes area.

In the absence of the chairman the proposal to change the qualifying round for the Classic was defered until next year's AGM.  A welcome was given to Coed y Mwstwr who indicated that they were going to field 2 teams in the comming season, and thanks to Fairwood Park who will host the final of the Claret Jug on the 9th August.

The meeting closed at 11.45 am with wishes to all the members for a merry Christmas and a good golfing new year.
